As my nine year old son says – Awesome!! Not too much rumble and roll, but enough to make it exciting. Overall, a gorgeous view of Atlanta in an extremely exciting way!
As far as I’m concerned this is the best flight I ever had. You could fly this biplane over a gravel pit and still have a great time. Never mind that you have some of the country’s best scenery below you. I hoope to do it again….and again.
Unforgetable……….I could smell the honey suckle and the flight was gentle as could be. Pilot asked if I wanted it smooth and calm or rock and roll. Smooth and calm was my personal decision – yours may be rock and roll.
What a great time!!!
After making our reservation with Steve, we drove out to Peachtree-Dekalb Airport where we found a big yellow happy-looking biplane (complete with pilot) waiting for us at the Admin/Restaurant building. James the pilot walked us around the plane, giving us details of its history and construction. We spent a few minutes taking photos of this gorgeous plane – he even took a few of us with our camera!
We flew over downtown Atlanta and Stone Mountain, and before we knew it we were back at PDK, having a glass of wine at the Downwind Restaurant.
Excellent gift for the person that has everything…
I bought a bi-plane ride for my husband and my boss. They both loved it. They flew over Atlanta and Stone Mountain. It’s a great gift for the hard to buy.
You have to do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a trip back in time, great for anyone , any age. You will love it, I did and so did the special person who flew with me.
Unlike anything you can ever do. The plane is an original 1930’s Waco Classic, beautiful, if perfect condition. this is an opportunity to go back in time. I don’t care for flying commercial flights or even climbing ladders but this is in a class by itself. Can’t wait to do it again and again.
GREAT FLIGHT. GREAT TIME!!!
Took my granddaughter with me today (11/01′2009) on a bi-plane over Atlanta. We had a great time. The flight was smooth, the pilot helpful, courteous and informative. Recommend it!!
Years ago I took my oldest son (he must have been four at the time), to the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant for a bowl of their cinnamon vanilla ice cream. As we sat on their WW II themed terrace watching the planes come and go from the runway, a bright yellow biplane pulled up to the fence beside the restaurant.
My son was amazed and asked if he could go to the fence to get a closer look as the pilot climbed out of the shiny yellow machine. “Hi there young fellow” bellowed Steve and he handed my son a photo/business card with a picture of the plane and his name “Steve.” Now more than 8 years later, everytime we see the yellow biplane (over Buckhead, a Braves Game, Downtown, wherever) our whole family looks up and simply says “Hi Steve!”
I’ve never flown with them and couldn’t tell you what its like, but we love “Steve” and are always happy to hear his rumbling engine and look up to see his yellow plane flying overhead.
“My wife bought me a gift certificate here a few years back. What a unique and different experience. I decided to take my flight in the fall, when the haze and smog is a little less. You schedule the time over the phone and meet your pilot at PDK near the Downwind Restaurant. I took my place in the front seat of the airplane and had a brief introduction on the plane, then we were off. Our flight took us southwest from the airport, climbing over buckhead. We then followed Peachtree Street south towards downtown. Over Piedmont park we did a few loops to check out a festival taking place down there. Next we crossed the connector, flying over GA Tech to the Georgia Dome. Just awesome views. You can’t go much farther south without getting into the Hartsfield airspace, so we turned to the northeast, over Turner Field and heading towards Stone Mountain. Once we were clear of downtown, the pilot let me have a go with the rudder and stick. I didn’t do anything crazy (kinda wish I had), but was amazed at how responsive the plane was. Just before we got to the mountain, the pilot did a few tricks, pulling about a four-G acrobatic turn. Wow! We did a few laps around Stone Mountain, then headed back to PDK. It was a great experience, one I won’t soon forget. After landing, you will turn heads as you taxi past the playground and observation deck. Feel free to wave!
The address of this place is a mailing address. If you are interested in booking a flight, just give them a call. They offer a few different types of flights, including a trip over Lake Lanier. Another cool alternative… a couples trip. The front seat is just wide enough for two (and you’d be plenty close). I don’t know if they would do this, but a sunset trip in a biplane would be very romantic!”
Steve we have so many customers that are always talking about your biplane rides. Do you offer corporate packages? We would love to have an employee biplane flight day. Thanks!
Steve-
